The United States Men's National Soccer Team (USMNT) represents the United States in international men's soccer competitions. The team is managed by the United States Soccer Association and is a member of FIFA and CONCACAF. The US team has participated in the FIFA World Cup ten times, including the inaugural World Cup in 1930. They reached the semi-finals and were officially recognized as third place, the best result ever achieved by a non-UEFA and non-CONMEBOL member team in the World Cup. After participating again in 1934 and 1950, the US team did not qualify for the World Cup again until 1990. After the 1994 World Cup, the US team qualified for five consecutive World Cups, becoming a regular participant and frequently advancing to the knockout stages. The US team reached the quarter-finals in the 2002 World Cup, their best result in the modern World Cup.
